I can agree that titles need to create interest to get clicks, and Medium should be cautious about that. However, I disagree with the idea that the featured article with less views than your work wasn’t worthy of being featured. It sounds like it was just a different topic than yours and that you’re comparing unlike things.
While you say you don’t like to complain it seems as though you think you’re entitled to having the featured spot every day. I think you could rewrite the tone of this piece to critique it for the potential backfiring, but still acknowledging that the change is to help upcoming writers get their time to shine as well.
My views are going up and I made my most yet last month and am already on track to make my most ever this month.
Honestly, for my other kinds of writing I think this is a good change. I don’t like clickbaity titles and have to actively avoid those articles since it’s mostly fluff. Likely that’s what Medium has found is a common user experience and so they are changing the platform and algorithm for their readers.
The change might be damaging for some, but it will help others.
